Situated in the “Metropolitan Methodius Kusev” Park, the Summer Theater is one of Bulgaria’s most iconic and frequently visited venues. Designed by architect Yordan Tangurov in 1957 and completed in 1959, it was constructed on the site of an old stone quarry.
The theater’s architecture harmoniously blends with its natural surroundings, reflecting a keen sense of proportion and continuity. Following a comprehensive reconstruction, the Summer Theater reopened on September 6, 2022, with a concert by Bulgaria’s music legend Lili Ivanova.
Today, the venue boasts over 1,600 seats and serves as a versatile space for concerts, theatrical performances, festivals, and various cultural events. The renovation, led by architect Yavor Yanulov and landscape architect Kornelia Matorova, has transformed the area into a modern cultural hub that seamlessly integrates natural beauty with contemporary design.
